March for the Alternative

On 26th March 2011 some of the UNISON members from the Norwich City branch travelled to London to take part in the March for the Alternative.

Called by the TUC and backed by UNISON, this was the biggest ever march in support of public services and confronted head-on the ConDem government’s lies that there is no alternative to their slash-and-burn attack on our services, jobs, and pensions.  Without a doubt deep spending cuts damage public services, hit the vulnerable and threaten recovery.  They're dangerous, unfair and unnecessary. But the idea of the march was to highlight that ther is an alternative - one that's fair, safe and sustainable and include  a Robin Hood tax on the banks, closing tax loopholes and policies for jobs and green growth.
