Single Status Update – March 2011

The Norwich City branch has received informal confirmation from the regional office that the council’s single status proposals can be put to members in a ballot.

The proposals will go before the council’s Cabinet on 16 March 2011. The meeting will determine whether the council will support UNISON’s request for compensation for members whose salaries will change as a result of the proposals.

Following the Cabinet meeting the Norwich City UNISON Branch Committee will decide if it will recommend that members accept or reject the proposal in the upcoming ballot.

Before the ballot we expect that all the information that you will need to make an informed decision on how to cast your vote will be available, including details on how the proposals will impact each individual member.

If members accept the proposal the scheme will be implemented, and if rejected the branch will consider what action should be taken. Unison is a member-led organisation, and your voice will be crucial in determining the way forward.

We will let you know when the ballot will be scheduled to take place and when the Branch Committee’s decision will be taken. Meanwhile, if you have any questions please speak to your steward – a list of stewards can be found here.
