Recruitment week

This week has been a major recruitment week across the whole of UNISON.  The Norwich City branch have played their part in that and centered the activity around the annual general meeting. Some members of the branch committee with staff from the regional office were staffing tables on the ground, first and second floors of City Hall in Norwich.  Not only were they talking to potential members, but also talking to current members and asking them to do their bit to help in the recruitment process by taking away an application form and giving it to one of their colleagues who is not a member and encouraging them to join.

This was an ideal way of widening the recruitment activity and it worked as one member went back to their workplace and a few minutes later a new member came to the table with an application form filled out and joined there and then.

In addition to the regional staff we also had a member of staff from Thompsons who gave out leaflets on a number of issues that affect members from personal injury, to stress at work, to working time and age discrimination.  These leaflets are always helpful and it's good to know that Thompsons are there to help when we have problems.

In all it's a good start but we can't stop there.  We need to continue to recruit new members and we needcurrent members to help us in that task by encouraging non member colleagues to join.

The more members we have the stronger we are nationally, regionally and, more importantly, locally in the city council.
