Pensions Campaign Launches

Protect our pensionsThe national UNISON 'Protect our Pensions' campaign has launched to step up efforts to protect our pensions as we face new threats from the coalition government's budget cuts and the Hutton report recommendations.

A webpage has been created on the national UNISON website here http://www.unison.org.uk/pensions/protectour.asp, which has information on the campaign including materials, how you can get involved and regular newsletters, as well as UNISON's response to the recommendations of the Hutton report.

Branches are being asked to identify a pensions champion, to make sure the latest briefings and information is readily available as well as keeping up to date with issues and dealing with any questions that members may ask.  Kevin O'Grady, branch secretary, has been nominated as the branch's pensions champion.

As well as champions, branches can put forward members as 'pensions contacts', who will become more involved by discussing issues with colleagues, passing on news about campaign activities and persuading others to get involved.  To become a pensions contact just click here to open the UNISON national website, select 'Pensions contact' from the drop down menu in the 'wanted champions and contacts' box, and fill out your contact details.

We will keep you updated on campaign news, and in the meantime to give us your views on this or any other issue email unison@norwich.gov.uk.
