Pay Claim 2008 - October 08 Update

There has been no further news since the 2008 claim was referred to arbitration. This follows the decision of Unison’s NJC Committee not to ask members to take any further industrial action in relation to this year’s pay offer.

The branch hopes this dispute can be resolved as fairly and quickly as possible to help our members meet the rising costs of essentials which are increasing daily. Unison has said that local government workers have the right to expect a pay increase by Christmas and has urged ACAS to begin arbitration as soon as possible to resolve the long standing dispute.

Looking forward, the pay claim for 2009 is now under discussion, with branches being consulted on what they would like to see from next year’s claim.
