Interim Payrise of 2.45% agreed for November Pay Packets

Pay matters

Employers have agreed to pay council workers an interim 2.45% pay rise in their November pay packets to tide them over Christmas, which will be backdated to April.

The final settlement of the 2008 pay claim awaits the results of arbitration, and any difference between this interim measure and the final increase will be paid to employees at a later date.

This interim measure will allow employees to see some of their increase before Christmas arrives, and help workers to bear the increasing cost of living until the final settlement is decided.

Employees should receive the pay rise and back pay in their November pay packets, and trade unions will meet with the employers again on 23 October to discuss the terms of reference for arbitration.
