What you really have to ask is 'Can you afford NOT to?'. Pay increases have been below inflation for 10 years, and the cost of essential like petrol, food and domestic fuel are rising sharply - we need to show the employers we deserve pay increases that meet the cost of living.  The 2.45% offer is yet another pay cut, not just for you but for all of our members, with those on lower pay rates most affected. So, what could it actually cost you to be out on strike?
Jul 10 2008 - 12:48
Unison General Secretary, Dave Prentis, issues a call to action for Unison members and activists: "Dear colleague, Branches and members will have by now received the results of the ballot over the NJC pay offer.  As a result of the ‘yes’ vote, the Industrial Action Committee has given the ‘go ahead’ for all-out strike action on 16 and 17 July.

Take inflation into account and by offering 2.45% you are being asked to take a PAY CUT Efficiency savings are not being shared with the people who made them – council workers like you We need to strike because the employers won’t even consider talking to us about a better offer
